Toll Architecture, a national full-service Toll Brothers company seeks an Assistant Director of Architectural Engineering for our Corporate office located in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania. 

 

What is the opportunity?

 

Assists Director of Eng. / VP of Arch Eng. with driving team and regional consistency as well as strategic planning and implementation. Collaborates with architectural staff and other Toll Brothers’ departments (i.e. TIS, Purchasing, Operations, etc.). Exhibits strong leadership qualities. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, tasks, and engineering staff. Manage Structural EIT’s/Structural Engineers and verify structural integrity of their work. Design the structural components of residential wood structures. Produce repair details and letters. Seal structural plans, details, and repairs as needed. Must possess PE license.

 

What are the primary responsibilities?

  • Managing workload of regional engineering team/Coordination with Arch Staff and Operations
  • Reviewing designs/calculations of Structural EIT’s/Structural Engineers
  • Preparing repair details/letter
  • Engineering calculations
  • Administrative/Managerial tasks for engineering staff-includes training/guidance
  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Able to collaborate with other engineers, architectural staff, and Operations
  • Strong written and verbal skills needed
  • Proactive with communication
  • Understands and steers engineering group’s involvement in Toll Arch processes
  • Maintains consistency within engineering group and Toll Arch
  • Guides engineering procedures and engineering standards for EIT’s/PE’s
  • Superior work ethic

 Do you have these qualifications?

  • Essential:
    • PE License
    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Architectural or Structural Engineering
    • Minimum 10 years of engineering experience
    • Expert knowledge of residential construction methods, materials, and applicable building codes and design principles
    • Advanced communication and collaboration skills
    • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects at once
    • High level of attention to detail, consistency, and organizational skills
    • Effective leadership skills
  • Preferred:
    • Ability to understand big picture of how engineering group fits into Toll Arch/Toll Bros
    • Ability to analyze processes and make suggestions for improvement
    • Advanced administrative and personnel skills for managing staff
    • Advanced conflict-resolutions skills
